For Immediate Release:
Wrightsville Beach Longboard Association Surf Swaptopia to be held Saturday, November 14th
The Wrightsville Beach Longboard Association (WBLA) is pleased to announce that they will be hosting the annual Surf Swaptopia at the parking lot of Kitchen Lighting and Designs on 4515 Fountain Dr in Wilmington (across from PT’s and the Trolley Stop off College Road). The sale will begin at 2 pm with set up occurring from 1-2 pm and will end at 7 pm.
Billed as “Because your stuff wants to get back in the water” the WBLA will be selling spaces for individuals and businesses to sell their surf and water related gear. Spaces cost only $10 for individuals and artists and $50 for businesses. Spaces can be split between multiple parties. The WBLA is also offering two options for those individuals with limited items to sell. They will consign an item for 30% of list price or individuals may donate an item for sale by the club. Items to be consigned or sold must be brought to the swap meet between 1-2 pm and have a price indicated and a self-addressed, stamped envelope. The swaptopia will also feature live music and a chance to purchase raffle tickets for a board shaped by Scooter Raynor. Drawing for the board will be held at the WBLA Holiday Oyster Roast. The Oyster Roast will occur in December—date to be announced.
There are only 55 spaces available and will fill up quickly, so those interested need to contact either John Beausang, WBLA President at barnum@wblasurf.org, 910-616-9675 or by contacting Nancy Preston, WBLA Vice President at nancy.preston@yahoo.com or 910-540-4112.
###
The Wrightsville Beach Longboard Association is a non-profit organization of young and old surfers who see the need to capture the true spirit of surfing, to use this spirit for the betterment of our communities and to live the surfing lifestyle in a positive manner.
The WBLA promotes surfing as a way of life. This is not a club of exclusivity, as each person makes his or her contributions to the goals of the association, we will be judged by the contributions to the community and the character of our members.
We have a number of activities throughout the year, including the annual Longboard Classic and a Christmas oyster roast and pot luck dinner. We also strive to give back to our community by providing scholarships to local students, donations to local families in need, and also environmental pursuits such as beach sweeps and sea grass planting.
